Moana

Moana: Action Song

Iron oxide pastels

Calm, gentle and unified, action songs are very different from the dynamic drum dances.

Moana means sea/ocean in Cook Islands Maori and is an often used theme in action songs, the arm and hand movements describing waves, complimented by the slow sway of the hips.

Inspired by the dancers performing at the Tamanu Beach. The girls are very graceful and the fire dancers simply fabulous.
